Natasha K.“I have to say that hendrik, the owner and also our tour guide was exceptional. The service and communication before and during the tour was great, and importantly everything was just as we had agreed on. I joined a group motorbike tour in Yunnan and I drove the Shineray X5.”
Andreas S.(Switzerland): Tibetmoto – awesome tour operator for exploring Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai and Tibet by motorcycle, car or with your overland vehicle.
I have book two tours with Hendrik and his team. Both tours were customised motorcycle tours to my desire photography, riding awesome roads, experiencing the local lives, staying in home stays, sleeping out in tents, seeing the luscious high grassland, visiting the memorable printing house of Dege, the unique Larung Gar monastary of Serthar or the holly mountains, tasting local food and enjoying riding the stunning countryside, deep gorges or breath taking views.
Hendrik is the owner of Tibetmoto. He enjoys riding out with customers. Hendrik knows his cruising area inside out. You want to ride on dirt roads or climb the highest pass – he will bring you there, snow, mud, perfect new roads, nice and easy pistes – he knows the place to take you. All tailored to your skills and level of adventure.
He runs a professional business with a constant support from his back office, so that he can change hotels and to accommodate the route. Further, there was always a pickup with us carrying our luggage or ready to supply a warm coffee or a drink. We could ride light and just enjoy China from its best side. Hendrik runs a modern fleet of bikes, which are all well maintained and perfect for these road conditions. After riding in October 2015 with him, I returned in June 2016 and will now return again in 2017 to ride Kashgar, the dessert and discover new territories.
Tibetmoto – a awesome experience
Matthias S.(Germany): Vehicles: The chinese motorbike, a Shineray 400 is really a good choice for this region. 400cc and 27 Horsepower is not much. And sometimes i was afraid that the asthma afflicted engines will not get enough air to take us to the top.
All the time the engine it is rattling and banging, with every single up the mountain the maximum rpm is getting lower and lower, and the Shineray is used digitally – however driving the bike is fun! Sometimes the streets are so small with so many turns that a speed of 40km/h can be called crazy rush. I am happy that the quality issues are not my problem –Hendrik and his team are taking care about this. For this reason i can focus to drive and not to repair – and because of that the Shineray is a really good choice for this tour.
The Organsation: Tibetmoto did a really good job. Hendrik prefers to let us drive free, Sonam the guy with the Mothertongue takes care that we get really good food and Trainee Dominik the gofer takes care about all the little things on the tour. Other than that he is organizing the more or less cold beer to get rid of the dust. Coffee seem to be a really seldom good in Chins – but the guys from Tibetmoto taking care, that the good old Germans will get a kind of coffee during breakfast. Most of the daily tours are scheduled with an average of 200km per day. Before we started i thought: „That’s not much!“, however considering the profile of the streets it was more than enough for every day.

Simina S. traveling in Yunnan:
During my trip, I never felt that we were something else than friends. The organisers and guides were exceptionally understanding of my needs and the way they handled everything went beyond my wildest expectations. They made me feel at ease and safe everywhere we’d go, were enthusiastic, easy-going, open and excellent communicators, but what I appreciated the most was how flexible they were also, letting me choose precisely what I wanted to visit and when, which gave me the possibility to experience beautiful old towns like Dali and Lijiang right after leaving the noisy, vibrant capital, which made for a much better understanding of the contrasts of Chinese society.
I believe that travelling should be about discovering new cultures and assimilating the lifestyles they preach, even just for a few days, which Tibetmoto haven’t failed to help me accomplish. They made sure that my experience would be as authentic as possible and helped me to see a way of life that was different to anything I’ve seen before. Even the hotels I’ve stayed in had a cosy and local feel to them, so strong that I sometimes felt that I had lived there all my life! They had perfect knowledge of the Chinese culture and history (and language!), which made my trip more than a simple holiday, but a unique learning opportunity which also consisted of learning about myself, among other things. I would definitely do it again!
Family friendly tours:
Tom and Debbie: Hendrik and Tibetmoto made our trip to Yunnan simple and enjoyable. We stayed a few days at their guest house in DaLi and then did an 8-day trip by 4-wheel drive through North Yunnan with our son and future daughter-in-law. Whether it was hiking in Tiger Leaping Gorge, visiting temples and monasteries, wandering in villages and towns, or simply enjoying the stunning vistas, the days flew past. This is not a packaged tour; we contacted Hendrik with some suggestions and he proposed a custom tour that fit our time and interests. And then he delivered in a very professional manner with very comfortable guest houses, careful driving, and knowledgeable commentary.
Thank you Hendrik for the fantastic tour! Tom and Debbie Fyles, Victoria, Canada
Jill M.: Smoothest trip ever. Tibetmoto arranged the trip perfectly for me and my family. I´ve got two small children, so its important that a touring company knows the needs of families in such as rough climate.
The landscapes and surroundings were absolutely stunning and the highlight for us was the Everest base camp. Communication with tibetmoto (tour manager: Hendrick) was smooth and all information on health, altitude and many other issues were very helpful.
Although Tibet is not an easy travel destination everything was excellent including the hotels and the activities (children friendly) were perfectly planned.
